What Makes You Beautiful?

No, I am not talking about the song by One Direction, although I absolutely love it. I am talking about what makes you beautiful amidst the ridiculous societal beauty standards of shape, size, and color.

There is often a mirage of societal validation around the concept of beauty. You are used to feeling beautiful only when society “validates” you as beautiful. When people say you look “cute”, “pretty”, “beautiful”, only then you start liking yourself. But that gets toxic after a point because we are not naturally loving ourselves. We end up hating our bodies. We seek validations and get desperate. And that honey, eats you up.

We won’t have youthful bodies forever. In this fleeting life, soon we will be grandmas and grandpas with twisted backs and saggy skins.

Then, what is beauty?

Happy is Pretty. Healthy is Beautiful. That’s it.

Remember, societal validation is not what’s keeping u alive. Your own validation to yourself matters the most. Love yourself. Ask yourself if there is anything you want to change with your habits. Eat good food, treat your body right, do some exercise and skincare. At the end of it no matter how you look, you are beautiful.

Why can’t we tell ourselves we are beautiful? Why can’t we pat ourselves in the back every time we grab a healthy meal? Why can’t we radiate confidence in our own skin? These are the least littlest things we can do for ourselves! Define your own beauty. Have your own standard. Love and live your own life. ✨
